Boating On The Eastlake
East Lake is located at the foot Ruofen Mountain in eastern Shaoxing. It is a famous place of interest in the east of Zhe jiang. Emperor Qinshihuang once traveled to Kuaiji and stopped to rest his horses and carriages here. From the Han Dynasty, masons chiseled the hill to get stones generation after generation. Man-made precipitous peaks and deep pools thus came into being, which look as it made by nature. Taojunxuan, a noted person of Kuaiji in the Qing Dynasty had this landscape built in the style of the artistic conception of Taoyuan and named it East Lake. Wonderful rocks, poolafter pool dotted with pavilions and winding paths, East lake are reputed as an epitome of Kuaijishan Mountain as pretty as west Lake. It has also enjoyed the reputation of being the first big potted landscape. 
Taogongdong pool and Xiantaodong pool are the best charming of all. With a boat floating on the pool, you may feel as if you looked at sky from the bottom of a well.Enjoy listening to the sound from the empty-valley, and the beauty with green water and rock shadow. On the bank of Lake are Tingiou Pavilion,YinLiu Pavilion,Xiangji Pavilion,Jishou Balcony,Xiaoji Veranda,Guilin Ridge and so on.Xiachuan Bridge,Qinqiao Bridge,Wanliuqiao Bridgeand other ancient style bridges are across the river. Enjoy the water while climbing the hill along the stoned-steps. East lake has the honor of having the manuscripts by many scholars and poems of the past age, such as Sunzhongshan,Maozhedong,Liushaoqi,Luxun,Guomoruo. Taoshe in the west of East Lake is built to memorize Taochenzhang, the noted person of the Revolution of 1911. Taogong Cave
Taogong Cave is 50 m in height and featured of narrow opening. By boating in the cave, you may feel as if you look at the sky from the bottom of a well. You can enjoy listening to the sound from the empty-valley, and the clear water and rock shadow.
Xiantao Cave
The East Lake has two caves that are Taogong Cave and Fairy Peach Cave. You can see the words of"Xiantao Cave" on the cliff, and the half of peachy stone door on the water of the lake by the Wu peng boat. It is told that one fairy picked the peaches here.
Stone Bridge
You can see the many kinds of the stone bridges on the sides of East Lake by walking. This is special landscape on the East Lake. The famous stone bridges are Qin Bridge, Wanliu Bridge, Xiachuan bridge, Tingbu bridge and so on.
Pavilion
You can see the little pavilions at the bank of East Lake walking the narrow stone roads. Feast your eyes on the East Lake climbing the pavilions along the stone steps. The main pavilions are Tingqiu Pavilion, Yinlu Pavilion, Xiangji Pavilion, Lanyue Pavilion, Hanbi Pavilion and so on.
Jishou Building
Jishou Building lies in East Lake scenic zone, is good place for resting, tea and sightseeing. There are many photographs for presenting in the Jishou Building, which are Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi and others who were visiting the East Lake.
Yangfan Building
The Yangfan Building lies to side of the Jishou Building and is surrounded with the waters. The Yangfan Building is used for performance. You are brought alive local customs depicted by Lu Xun on the Wupeng boat.
Xiaoji Veranda
Lying to side of Qin Bridge, Xiaoji Veranda is a good place for seeing the vast panorama of East Lake. You can invite some good friends to have a rest and a cup of tea, and see the shuttling Wupeng boats in the lake.
Tao Se
Taoshe was set up for commemorating Tao Chengzhang who was a martyr in the revolution of 1911.(the Chinese bourgeois democratic revolution led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen which overthrew the Qing Dynasty) Mr. Tao was killed in 1912. The coming generation took the Tao's former house as a memorial hall. There are many Mr. Tao's be quetzals and the revolution data.
