On October 11th, 30 foreign experts in Zhejiang were given the “West Lake Friendship Award” by Zhejiang provincial government. They are from 13 countries, such as the U. S., North Korea, Canada, the U.K., etc. and engaged in more than 10 fields including education, medicine, manufacturing, etc. Vice-governor of Zhejiang Province Chen Jiayuan presented the awards.

“West Lake Friendship Award” is the highest honor given to foreign experts in Zhejiang by the provincial government. Since the establishment of “West Lake Friendship Award” in 1997, a total of 469 experts have been given such honor, among whom 33 got the “National Friendship Award” through recommendation. During the 11th five-year plan period, more than 115 thousand person-time foreign experts from overseas and outside Mainland have been hired in Zhejiang, among whom over 80 thousand person-time foreign experts work in economic and technological fields and over 20 thousand person-time foreign experts work in education, science, culture, health and other social development fields. There were more than 3,000 talent introduction projects implemented during the time as scheduled.
