Xia Baolong, Secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, declared open the 15th Provincial Games. Governor Li Qiang delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

This is the first time that the opening ceremony has been held at daytime in the last two decades. To implement the spirit of improving working styles and avoiding extravagance that the central government and the provincial committee advocate, the 15th Provincial Games will be held in an economical manner. There will be no large-scale show or firework display and the span of the Games will be reduced by one day.

Li Qiang extended his cordial greetings to athletes, coaches, umpires and staff on behalf of the provincial committee and the provincial people’s government.

Before the opening ceremony, Li Qiang met with representatives of elite mass sports organizations and representatives of the most “beautiful” people in sports in our province.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of athletes and umpires took an oath. As Sun Yang lit the cauldron of the 15th Provincial Games, the opening ceremony reached its peak. Some provincial leaders, persons in charge of provincial departments and Shaoxing Municipal Government, and various delegations appreciated the art performance.

It is reported that unlike the previous pattern where competing athletes were from various mass sports departments and associations, all the participants at this Provincial Games are juveniles ranging in age from 8 years to 18 years from various schools for professional athletes and amateur training centers in ordinary elementary and secondary schools . There will be 874 gold medals in 21 sports, 27 sub-sports and 710 events. It is a concentrated display and assessment of amateur training programs in our province. The 15th Provincial Games will be closed on October 28.
