On the afternoon of 3 September, Xia Baolong, Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, met with Anthony Parkes, director of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) World Chambers Federation (WCF), and his delegation.
Founded in the 1950s, WCF is a specialized sector of ICC, intended to unite the global network of 12,000 chambers, promote their communication and render better service. Since 1999, WCF stages the World Chambers Congress every two years. The 10th Congress will be held in Asia-Pacific area in 2017. Currently four cities from four countries have entered into the bidding for hosting the Congress. Zhejiang’s Yiwu is one of them. The primary purpose for this visit is to inspect Yiwu’s capability of holding the Congress.
Xia Baolong extended a warm welcome to Anthony Parkes. He pointed out that Yiwu has the capability of holding the World Chambers Congress and this initiative will be fully supported by the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the provincial government.
