On April 11, Zhejiang launched the campaign of “Wildlife Protection Awareness Month 2015” and “Bird-Loving Week” in Shaoxing with the theme of “Stressing Migratory Bird Protection, Guarding Our Green Home”. During the campaign, the exhibition of hand-painted works of birds, publicity campaign as well as the display of photographic equipment for bird-watching and shooting, organized by Zhejiang Wildlife Conservation Association, will be held in Shaoxing Science and Technology Museum and Shaoxing Jinghu National Urban Wetland Park.

According to official statistics, Zhejiang is home to as many as 689 wild animal species, including 18 under first class state protection, 97 under second class state protection and 453 under special state protection which are beneficial or of important economic or scientific value. In addition, Zhejiang boasts about 5,500 higher plant species, among which 53 are included in the List of Wild Plants under Special State Protection, 11 under first class state protection and 42 under second class state protection.
