Being one of the oldest universities in China, Zhejiang University celebrated its 118th birthday yesterday with a party on its Zijingang campus. President Wu Zhaohui joined Ba Denian, academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Lu Chongqing, chairman of Zhejiang University Alumni Association for North America, and many alumni at the party.

They also launched a website and a WeChat account for the celebration of the school's 120th anniversary in 2017. ZU alumni around the world can post commemorative messages as long as they provide their names and addresses.

Twelve chorus groups sang the school anthem one by one in competition. The song composed in 1938 was voted No. 1 of the top 10 university anthems by Internet users in 2014.

Five alumni who graduated in 1945 had a joyful reunion yesterday and had a video chat with their classmates scattered around the world. They also received a souvenir and a certificate of honor from the current university president.
