Zhejiang to Rectify Traffic Violations

Reporters learned from the provincial Public Security Department that from March 1 to December 31 this year, Zhejiang province will carry out a series of campaigns with the theme of “rectifying traffic violations and advocating road civility”.
These campaigns will target “6+X” traffic violations (“6” refers to the six major traffic violations namely careless driving, illegal parking, jaywalking, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs and vehicle license plates related violations, while “X” refers to other severe violation cases specified by the public security bureaus in all cities and the traffic police corps of the provincial Public Security Department). Traffic police departments will employ high-definition monitoring equipment to make snapshots of serious traffic violations that threat public safety and traffic safety, such as using mobile phone while driving, illegal parking on arterial roads and changing lanes carelessly.
The provincial Civilization Office, the provincial Public Security Department and some provincial media co-sponsored an online survey on the “Top Ten Most Disgusting Traffic Violations”. The survey result shows that the inappropriate use of high beams at night has topped the list and changing lanes carelessly, riding an electric bicycle in a motor vehicle lane in the wrong direction and running a red light are also on the list. All of these violations are on the agenda of the campaigns.
The 10-month long rectification will cover 109 main roads in 11 cities in Zhejiang.
