Zhejiang Completes Investigation and Registration of Sea Outfalls

After identifying all the river outfalls with an “ID card”, Zhejiang is ready to take standardized control of the sea outfalls as another focus of this year's "Five Water Governance" and marine pollution control in all parts of the province. A few days ago, reporters learned from the Water Environmental Management Office of Zhejiang Environmental Protection Bureau that Zhejiang has basically completed the investigation and registration of the sea outfalls throughout the province, and verified a total of 114 illegal and improper outfalls verified, of which 87 outfalls have been identified as illegal and 27 improper.
By the end of this year, Zhejiang will comprehensively clear up all the illegal and improper outfalls, and the outfalls which still cannot reach the standards after renovation. Land-based outfalls will achieve stable discharge standards; the provincial rivers flowing into the sea will eliminate inferior Class V waters; and inshore water quality will hold steady and meet the assessment requirements of the national “Water Tens”.
