Going All out to Promote Overall Planning of “Six Medical Resources” and Speeding up the Realization of “Two Strengths and Two Heights”

Zhejiang Provincial Teleconference on Medical Reform was held on August 24. On the conference, Yuan Jiajun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and Governor of Zhejiang Province, stressed that we should carefully study and implement the guidelines and principles of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s 7·26 Keynote Speech and Provincial Party Congress. The developing principle of putting people first needs to be upheld and the efforts should be guided by the goal of building a province of healthy people and relieving the masses’ problems of “limited access to medical care, high costs and excessive procedures of health care”. Yuan also emphasized that people involved should be demand-, problem-, and result-oriented. Besides, equal importance should be attached to the individual components of three pairs, i.e., the government and the market, proper management and vitality, fairness and effectiveness. He called for going all out to promote overall planning of “Six Medical Resources”, namely medical insurance, health care, medicine, hospitals, traditional Chinese medicine, and doctors, and strengthen scientific monitoring in the effort to win the uphill battle of medical reform, in a bid to ensure the effectiveness of China’s medical reforms. Moreover, the goal of “Two Strengths and Two Heights”, which means strong systems and services, high level of health of the people and high satisfaction rate, needs to be unrelentingly pursued. Zhejiang is supposed to make its contribution to the building of a national medical and health care system with Chinese characteristics.
