The network platform for the settlement of labor and personnel disputes through mediation and arbitration was officially launched in Zhejiang Province on November 12. This is the first online platform in the whole country which integrates the functions of online mediation, online arbitration, and online rights protection in the whole process of the settlement of labor and personnel disputes. As a result, no personal visit is needed any more during the mediation of and arbitration in labor and personnel disputes.

“I thought I had to travel for more than a thousand kilometers back to Zhejiang to apply for labor arbitration. The whole process is simple and convenient.” Mr. Peng from Guizhou, a worker at a board mill in Dongyang, was identified as a Class 9 disability due to a work-related injury and then returned to his hometown for recuperation. After an only two-hours mediation, the employer and the employee reached an agreement: the company paid Mr. Peng 80,000 yuan on a working injury insurance claim.

Zhejiang is a big economic province with strong labor demand and thus a high incidence of labor and personnel disputes. It is learned that in the past five years, there have been 120,000 labor and personnel disputes per year, with 200,000 workers involved and the total number of disputes ranking the top five in the country. “With the continuous growth of the laborer population, the labor relations in the new situation are becoming more and more complicated, the mobility of laborers is more and more frequent, and labor disputes are more and more frequent. It is a realistic need to resolve disputes through network.” Wu Zheng, president of Zhejiang Provincial Arbitration Court of Labor and Personnel Disputes, said that the launching of the network platform for the settlement of labor and personnel disputes through mediation and arbitration can make the mediation and arbitration services convenient to people, efficient, and informationalized, enabling the clients to achieve rights protection without visiting the service window personally.

The mediation and arbitration network platform includes the computer terminal and the mobile phone terminal. The parties can log on to the network platform for the settlement of labor and personnel disputes through mediation and arbitration, or click on the People’s Social Service Comprehensive Service Zone in the service hall of Zheliban APP to apply for mediation, arbitration, submission of evidence, and video mediation and online trials. They can also check the progress of the case and receive the legal documents for mediation and arbitration, completing mediation and arbitration at home.
