Li Keqiang: enhance reform and development in adapting to the needs of people's livelihood

From June 12th to 13th, Li Keqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, inspected Hangzhou accompanied by Zhejiang Provincial Party Secretary Che Jun and Governor Yuan Jiajun.

Li Keqiang came to Hemu Xincun in Gongshu District, entered the residents' homes to ask about the care of the elderly and the children, and inspected the home care service in the community. The demand for aged care services at home or in community is huge, said Li. It is necessary to vigorously introduce social forces to increase supply. The government must increase support and let the elderly live a comfortable, healthy and happy life. This also gives young people confidence in the future. There are many options for people's livelihood, and we must vigorously develop services such as child care, housekeeping, and medical assistance.

Some old people in the community told the Prime Minister that the old community has been renovated and the living environment is much better now, but they also hoped to install an elevator for the old buildings. Li Keqiang pointed out that, to build a livable city, we must first build livable communities. Renovating old communities and developing community services is not only a livelihood project, but also an important starting point for cultivating the domestic market to expand domestic demand. It can not only stimulate effective investment, but also promote consumption and employment. As it has a broad space for development, we must do a good job of it.

Li Keqiang walked into the pharmacy in the community and asked about the price and supply of medicines, especially children's medicines and first aid medicines. A clerk said that some domestic first-aid medicines are out of stock, and the price of similar imported drugs is high. Li Keqiang told the accompanying staff that this is an important issue of people's livelihood. We must have a good supply of commonly used medicines and emergency medicines, and make sure they are never out of stock. We must also keep the medicine price stable and avoid willful raise of prices.

In Dream Town, Li Keqiang listened to the report on entrepreneurship and innovation in Hangzhou. He was happy to learn that tens of thousands of makers from all over the country came to the town to start a business. He walked into the entrepreneurial street to see innovative achievements in artificial intelligence, drone medical distribution, and on-water remote control rescue equipment. There must be a wonderful entrepreneurial story behind every figure in the development of the town, he said. The old town has turn into a new platform for entrepreneurship and innovation. I hope that more such towns will emerge in the country so as to promote more employment and innovation.

Li Keqiang came to the Municipal Administrative Service Center to see the changes brought about by the "maximum one visit service procedure" reform to the enterprises and the general public, and asked about the actual feelings of the people who came for business. This reform has brought convenience to the people, Li Keqiang said. This will enable the people to have more time and energy to create wealth and enjoy life. The next step is to develop a "one-network-for-all-business" service platform, so that people can get business done by just clicking on the Internet. Li Keqiang also listened to the introduction to Zhejiang public credit information platform. He said that the market economy is a credit economy. Enterprise credit should be taken as an important reference for the government to improve supervision and for enterprises to have market transaction and cooperation, so that the honest can run their business smoothly and the untrustworthy may have to withdraw from the market.

Hangzhou is the first city approved by the State Council to establish a cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone. Relevant local authorities introduced to the Premier the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce in recent years, which has played an important role in promoting foreign trade growth and meeting the needs of consumption by “buying globally and selling globally”. Li Keqiang pointed out that cross-border e-commerce is a major trend in the future development of international trade. It can drive more enterprises to directly participate in international trade. It is also conducive to the development of large and medium-sized enterprises and domestic manufacturing upgrades and brand growth. He asked relevant departments to improve policies, innovate supervision, and increase support.

Li Keqiang fully affirmed the achievements of Zhejiang in economic and social development. He hoped that Zhejiang will adhere to Xi Jinping thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era, take the lead in reform, opening up, promoting innovation and improving people's livelihood, and be more supportive in national development.

State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Xiao Jie, leaders of relevant state ministries and commissions, provincial leaders Chen Jinbiao, Feng Fei, Zhou Jiangyong, Wang Shuangquan, and Gao Xingfu accompanied him for inspection.
