On the afternoon of Oct. 12, the start-up conference for the construction of the Poetry Road Cultural Belt in Zhejiang Province and the Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang Province was held in Tiantai. Yuan Jiajun, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, gave instructions, and Zheng Zhajie, governor, attended the meeting and pressed the start button of the Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang Province.

Yuan Jiajun points out in his instructions that the high-level construction of the Poetry Road Cultural Belt is an inherent requirement for comprehensively displaying Zhejiang’s poetic and picturesque landscapes, and promoting the construction of a beautiful Zhejiang and a cultural Zhejiang, and an important step for loyally implementing the “Double Eight Strategies” and striving to create an “important window”. The Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang has solid foundations, profound connotations, and distinctive characteristics. It is hoped that all localities and departments will thoroughly implement the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit to Zhejiang, deeply implement the concept that “lucid waters and lush mountains are valuable assets”, and further implement the development plan for Zhejiang poetry road cultural belt and the three-year action plan for the Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang, by focusing on the four themes of “Poetry and Painting”, “Landscape”, “Buddhism and Taoism” and “Celebrity” to condense and highlight the cultural connotation of “Poetry at heart”and promote the construction of the Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang to produce experience as early as possible and achieve more results.

Zheng Zhajie pointed out that the poetry road cultural belt connects the “chain” of the cultural essence of our province, the “chain” of the landscape, and the “chain” of global development. It has the great significance of connecting the past, the present, and the future, it is the iconic project of the Grand Garden of poetic and picturesque Zhejiang, and it is the “golden name card” of a cultural Zhejiang. All localities and departments must conscientiously implement the concept that “lucid waters and lush mountains are valuable assets”, to establish a special leading group and improve work coordination, element guarantees and evaluation and assessment mechanisms according to the development plan for the poetry road cultural belt in Zhejiang Province. All localities should give full play to their unique advantages, to take action to systematically promote the construction of the Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang, the Grand Canal Poetry Road, the Qiantang River Poetry Road, and the Oujiang Landscape Poetry Road, to strive to build the Poetry Road Cultural Belt into a charming humanistic belt, a golden tourism belt, a beautiful ecological belt, a economic belt enriching people, and a cooperation and opening belt, and into a landmark achievement of an “important window”, and to build the Grand Garden of Zhejiang into a destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

Zheng Shanjie emphasized that the Tang Poetry Road in East Zhejiang is the leader of the Poetry Road Cultural Belt, with very important historical accumulation and cultural connotation. We should focus on the objective of building “a happy and beautiful home, a green development highland, a blessed place for health, and an eco-tourism destination” to take the lead in starting construction, by focusing on five aspects. First, we must speed up the restoration of the Tang poetry Road in eastern Zhejiang, by finding and restoring the waterways, mountain roads and cultural roads of Tang poetry in eastern Zhejiang, and implementing high-quality key projects such as upgrading the connection of the Canal in East Zhejiang and Shanxi Channel. Second, we must accelerate the digging of cultural values, such as “poetry and painting”, “landscape”, “Buddhism and Taoism”, and “celebrity”, to protect and reproduce the real scene of poetry and painting, to protect and restore the natural ecology of mountains and rivers, to explore and enhance the contemporary value of Buddhist and Taoist cultures, and to build high-standard cultural characteristic towns. Third, we must accelerate the polishing of the “pearls” of the Tang Poetry Road in Eastern Zhejiang, by continuing to explore and create a number of poetry road cultural mountains, poetry road humanistic water veins, poetic forest ancient roads, cultural heritage parks, and ancient towns and villages in the famous poetry road city. Fourth, we must speed up the promotion of connection beads into chains, in cultural context, traffic, and travel lines. Fifth, we must accelerate the development of the cultural and tourism industry, innovate the development platforms and carriers of the cultural and tourism industry, improve the market-oriented investment mechanisms, and use government investment to attract social capital to actively participate in the construction of the poetry road project.
