At a recent conference on traditional Chinese medicine, Zhejiang authorities announced that all cities at the prefecture level and above will be home to at least one 3A-level TCM hospital by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25). The provincial government is also mandating that 95 percent of county-level TCM hospitals in Zhejiang be at the 2A level and above by the end of 2025. The aforementioned goals are part of the province's plans to build a highly efficient TCM service system in the coming years. Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, Zhejiang has been widely applying TCM to combat the pandemic: A total of 90 TCM doctors in the province have been sent to isolation wards at designated hospitals for COVID-19 and have been involved in treating 1,244 COVID-19 cases. A total of 34 traditional Chinese medical preparations have been officially approved for COVID-19 treatment.
