Numerous Zhejiang localities were nominated as national-level pilot zones at the opening ceremony of a forum themed on "ecological civilization" on Oct 14.

The forum was the only on-site sideline event of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity held in Kunming, Yunnan province.

Nine Zhejiang localities were included in the list of national-level ecological civilization demonstration zones. They are Jiaxing city, Quzhou city, Hangzhou's Yuhang district, Wenzhou's Lucheng district, Shaoxing's Shangyu district, Ningbo's Ninghai county, Huzhou's Changxing county, Zhoushan's Daishan county, and Lishui's Jinyun county.

Ningbo's Beilun district and Wenzhou's Wencheng county were included on the list of national-level innovation bases for the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets".
