Zhejiang athletes bag 6 gold medals at Tokyo Paralympics

The 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games closed on Sept 5, with Team China topping the medal tally with 207 medals.

Chinese athletes won 96 gold medals, 60 silvers and 51 bronzes. Six gold medals, seven silvers and seven bronzes were won by those from East China's Zhejiang province.

Li Zhangyu, born in Hangzhou, claimed a gold medal in the men's 1-km time trial C1-3 level track cycling competition.

Another Hangzhou native Tan Yujiao clinched gold in the women's 67kg weightlifting contest.

Zhang Tianxin and his female teammate Chen Minyi won gold in the W1-level mixed archery contest. Pinghu native Zhang started training in Hangzhou four years ago.

Jiang Yuyan, the youngest member of the Chinese delegation, set a world record in the heats of the women's 50m butterfly S6 and finished first in the final. She also set a world record for women's 400m freestyle S6. The 16-year-old swimmer is from Shaoxing.

Team China swimmers won gold in the mixed 50-meter freestyle relay contest. Among them were Wang Lichao and Yao Zan, two swimmers from Zhejiang.
