Keqiao Economic Development Zone Keqiao Economy Development Zone (KEZ), in the famous water town Keqiao, is a provincial economy development zone which was approved by Peoples Government of Zhejiang Prov. in 1993. KEZ is located in the prosperous Shanghai- Hangzhou- Ningbo Economy Belt of Yangtze Delta. Hangzhou-Ningbo Railway, State Highway No.104 (Peking to Fuzhou) and Zhedong Canal traverse it from west to east. It's only 8 KMs away from Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway. Keqiao is one of the most concentrated areas of economy in China. There are famous China Textile City, large-scale textile industrial groups of first-class technology and many natural resources for tourism with long history and cultures such as the Ancient Towpath , Mausoleum of Yu the Great,Tomb of Yue's King in Yinshan Mountain and Taiping Bridge and Keyan Scenic Spot. The Party Committee and the Administration of Shaoxing County have made a resolute decision to develop Keqiao Town into a modern city and county center depending on its economic base and resources and geographical position advantages. Since September 1992, all kinds of public and basic installations are being formed into a complete set and the investing environment is being perfected . There are more and more investment from both domestic and abroad investors. The government are also setting up many other districts for industry, modern education and tourism etc. Till now we have collected investment funds 42 hundred millions RMB, finished 238 items, completed projects 2550 thousand square meters and the population achieved to 90 thousands. In February 1998, the Tenth Party Member Congress of Shaoxing County stressed to Develop Keqiao as a full-equipped county center to control the whole county's economy, influent around towns' economy and urbanize the villages. Depending on China Textile City and the textile industry, KEZ stresses to develop high-science and technology industry and foreign-oriented economy with the characteristic of the watertown. We also try our best to make a coordinated growth of the secondary and tertiary industry in order to develop KEZ as a county center to control the whole county's economy, influent around towns' economy and urbanize the villages. The planned area for the first phase (till 2002) will cover 12.9 square kms with a population of 120 thousands and that for the second phase (till 2010) will cover 25 square kms with a population of 230 thousands.And it will be 42 square kms for the further phase. The whole city will consist of CBD,industrial district and tourist holiday resort.On the basis of the special markets,the CBD includes trade,banking,culture and information etc.with lots of residential quarters. The industry districts consist of Kedong and Kexi industry district,in which the foreign-oreinted and private-operated enterprises are especially welcome.The resort is planned to build tourist holiday facilities and round-lake parks linking the water and land,which will connect well together with Keyan Scenic Spot and the old watertown sight.
